Lucian Petrean

Baritone Petrean Lucian was born in 1975 in Bistrita. At the age of 7 he began studying the violin in Bistrita, and later took theology courses at the Orthodox Theological Seminary and at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Cluj-Napoca. From this period he took singing lessons under the guidance of master Ion Iercosan, bass, first soloist of the Romanian National Opera Cluj.

He graduated the Academy of Music „Gh. Dima ”from Cluj-Napoca, Canto department, in the class of prof. Univ. Dr. Ana Rusu, starting his musical training with the professor Alexandru Farcas, and then graduated the Master's Degree Courses of the "Gheorghe Dima" Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca, Canto department, in the class of prof. Univ. Dr. Gheorghe Rosu. He had his Master Class courses under the guidance of tenor Constantin Nica (Switzerland), soprano Laura Niculescu, pianist Nicoletta Olivieri (Italy), baritone Alfio Grasso (Italy) and bass baritone Ionel Pantea.

In August 2014 in Verona-Italy he studied with master Giorgio Zancanaro vocal master classes, and in June 2016 in Milan-Italy he studied with master Bonaldo Giaiotti.

In 2013 he was declared "Doctor of Philology" of the Faculty of Letters within the "Babeş-Bolyai" University, Cluj-Napoca with the work: "The caroling of the Romans in the Transylvania area".

After a series of recitals and concerts, he debuted in May 2010 as Rigoletto in the opera "Rigoletto" by Giuseppe Verdi at the festival "Viva Vox" at the National Opera in Cluj-Napoca under the baton of conductor Gheorghe Dumanescu professor at the Academy of Music " Gh. Dima ”from Cluj-Napoca.

He participated in the Hariclea Darclee - Brăila - Romania International Singing Competition, reaching the final phase. He gave a concert in Polenza, Macerata region - Italy under the guidance of conductor Cristian Sandu, assistant at the Gheorghe Dima Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca. He was invited by Professor Constantin Rapa to give an Extraordinary Concert at the Concert Studio of the "Gheorghe Dima" Academy of Music in Cluj with the work "Breve Trittico Mariano" together with mezzo-soprano Gabriela Thierry (Mexico) under the baton of Italian conductor Maurizio Baldin.

He debuted in the role of Tonio and Prolog from the opera "Pagliacci" by Ruggero Leoncavallo at the National Opera in Cluj under the baton of conductor Cristian Sandu.

At the Students' Culture House in Cluj-Napoca, he sang in the show "Zarzuela Fascinacion" under the baton of conductor Josep Gal (Spain). He made his debut as G. Germont in the opera "La Traviata" by G. Verdi at the Hungarian Opera in Cluj under the baton of conductor Cristian Sandu. He is a finalist of the "Quarto Concorso Lirico Internazionale Alfredo Giacomotti" Competition in Pavia - Italy. In Bistrita, during the Bistrita Culture Awards Gala, he received the distinction of "KNIGHT OF BISTRITA CULTURE".

He started collaborating with the Operas from Craiova and Braşov where he sang the role of "Rigoletto" under the baton of conductors Alexandru Iosub and Traian Ichim. He returns to the Romanian Opera in Cluj where he sang the role of G. Germont from the opera "La Traviata" in an extraordinary show for the great Romanian soprano Niculina Mirea and the role of "Rigoletto" with students of the Gheorghe Dima Cluj Academy of Music.

He made his debut at the Brasov Opera as "Scarpia" in the opera "Tosca" by Giacomo Puccini under the baton of conductor Munteanu Dorel and director Matteo Mazzoni (Italy). He was invited to sing in "Carmina Burana" with the orchestra and choir of the State Philharmonic "Transylvania" in Cluj-Napoca, under the baton of conductor Oliver Diaz (Spain).

He made his debut in the role of "Count of the Moon" in Verdi's opera "Il Trovatore" at the Brasov Opera under the baton of conductor Traian Ichim and director Anda Tabacaru Hogea, professor at the Academy of Music in Bucharest.

He debuted on the stage of the Bucharest National Opera as "Rigoletto" in the opera "Rigoletto" by G. Verdi in a new production directed by Stephen Barlow - Australia, scenography Yannis Thavoris - Greece, choreography Victoria Newlyn - teacher of stage movement and theater at GuildhallSchool Opera Department at the Royal Academy of Music, conductor Cristian Sandu with guest soloists from the USA, Italy, Serbia, Russia. He returns to the stage of the opera in Braşov where he sang again the role of "Count of the Moon" in the opera The Troubadour as well as the role of Tonio and Prolog in the opera "Pagliacci" under the baton of conductor Cristian Orosanu. He made his debut on the stage of the Timişoara Opera with the role of "Rigoletto", which he will also sing at the Craiova Opera. He returns to the Brasov Opera for the role of "G. Germont" in the opera "La Traviata" with the soprano Aurelia Florian.

In February 2015, he made his debut on the stage of the Romanian National Opera in Iaşi with the role of “Rigoletto”, under the baton of conductor Gabriel Bebeselea and then again Rigoletto at the Bucharest National Opera.

In April 2015 he sang Prologo and Tonio from the opera “Paiate” by R. Leoncavallo at the Opera Braşov under the baton of conductor Adrian Morar from the Opera Cluj and Scarpia from the opera Tosca by G. Puccini at the Opera Timişoara under the baton of the Italian conductor David Crescenzi (Italy) .

In October 2015, at the “Nae Leonard” Lyric Theater in Galaţi, she sang the role of the Count of the Moon in the opera Trubadurul, together with soloists from the Cluj and Timişoara Opera together with the soprano Young-Ju Kim from South Korea. The show is directed by Italian director Paolo Bosisio, and the conductor was Mircea Holiartoc.

In November 2015, she sang the role of Scarpia from the opera Tosca at the Iaşi Opera in an Anniversary Show - 59 years since the founding of the Romanian National Opera Iaşi, conductor Gheorghe Stanciu - Constanta, directed by Ognian Draganoff - Bulgaria.

In June 2016, he made his debut as Nabucco in the opera Nabucco by G. Verdi on the stage of the Romanian National Opera Cluj under the baton of conductor Gheorghe Dumanescu. In July 2016, he sang the role of Rigoletto with artists of the National Opera and Ballet Theater "Oleg Danovski" from Constanta at the Corvin Castle in Hunedoara during the Opera Nights festival, under the baton of maestro Tiberiu Soare.

During this period he gave concerts on the stage of the Philharmonic Orchestras from Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi, Arad, Botoşani, Suceava as well as on the stage of some Houses of Culture from Bistriţa, Carei, Piatra-Neamţ, Oneşti.
