Otello

"Otello" - nicknamed the drama of love, illustrates through music and scenic portrayal a conglomerate of states, emotions, and traits inherent to human nature and attributed to Shakespearean characters: love, honor, faith, jealousy, revenge, success, hatred, power. The opera is set in the late 1400s in a small town on the coast of the island of Cyprus and evokes the drama of love between the Moor Otello and the beautiful Desdemona. The perfidious attempt of Iago to separate the two and to remove Otello, the governor of Cyprus, from power in order to take his place, ends in a tragedy that led to the creation of one of the most beautiful and renowned operas, a true masterpiece by the composer Giuseppe Verdi. see more

ALEKO

"And everywhere fatal passions and there is no defense from fate" - the truth of Rachmaninoff's opera can perhaps be summed up in a single brilliant Pushkinian line. A bright, stirring plot, where everything is present: love and betrayal, jealousy and revenge. This opera is about human nature, its fate, and whether happiness is possible on earth. Will the main character, Aleko, be able to live peacefully and carefree in a beautiful world - or are the passions living within him capable of destroying any idyll? Where are the boundaries of freedom and how subject is it to humans? According to the opera's plot, the young hero Aleko flees from the city and finds himself in a wandering Gypsy camp. He becomes the husband of the young Gypsy girl Zemfira, who soon betrays him. Aleko cannot withstand the test of such Gypsy freedom... see more
